The Mongolian Maritime Administration under the Ministry of Roads and Transport, in collaboration with the East and North-East Asia Branch of the United Nations Economic and Social Commission for Asia and the Pacific (UNESCAP), organized a seminar on “Implementation of the Intergovernmental Agreement on Dry Ports” in Ulaanbaatar on 13th of this month.
Mongolia joined the “Intergovernmental Agreement on Dry Ports” developed by the United Nations Economic and Social Commission for Asia and the Pacific (UNESCAP) in 2016 and has been working with the international organization on a regular basis to provide technical assistance and recommendations for the construction of dry ports.
The event was attended by officials such as B. Ganbold, Head of the East and North-East Asia Branch of the United Nations (UNESCAP), Shen Yi, guest speaker from China, and N. OTGONSAIKHAN, Professor of the School of Business at the National University of Mongolia.
The seminar was attended by members of the working group established to develop dry ports in Mongolia, government policy and decision-makers, representatives of more than 70 private sector agencies operating in the transport and logistics sector, and academics.
The participants emphasized that this seminar was important in terms of measures and activities to be taken to establish dry ports in Mongolia in the future.
