Shore-clean up of Khuvsgul lake

The shore side of the Khuvsgul lake has been cleaned up by the staff of the Maritime Administration of Mongolia, this July, in the territory of Khatgal village of Huvsgul aimag.

Khuvsgul Lake is the biggest freshwater reserve of Mongolia and is the beloved tourist destination.

Today, in the territory of the Khatgal village, more than 50 boats are serving foreign and domestic tourists and travelers. Some of these boats are owned by tourist camps and operators, while the majority of them owned by local civilians, which are the main source of livelihood.

Inland waterway transport registration and monitoring department of the Maritime Administration annually conducts technical survey and inspection, while registering and implementing document procedures for newly owned boats.

Seafarers are trained and re-trained by the specialists of the Administration.

The shore clean-up activity has implemented first time in the area, within the umbrella of Sustainable Development Goals of the UN and 5 tons of garbage and wastes have been removed by the staff of the MMA.
